XM: The Ultimate Destination for Music Fans

Music is the spice of life. While that statement seems tired and overused, it truly is the one piece of society that evokes the most passion from its fans. Of course, there are heated debates about more serious topics like politics and religion, but EVERYONE has an opinion about music. Everyone has a favorite song, a favorite artist and everyone is able to answer the question, “which five albums (or CDs) would you want if you were stranded on a desert island (compilations not applicable)?”

XM’s commitment to music speaks for itself. We offer 69 commercial-free music channels for everyone from the casual music fan up to the aficionado in virtually every genre. One trip around the XM dial and you’ll hear songs you know, songs you haven’t heard in years, new songs you’re going to love and old songs you may have missed the first time around. Compare that with a trip across the FM dial in any city, and it’s easy to see why tens of thousands of music fans are signing up for XM every day. XM’s music library is made up of over three million songs and we house the single largest digital music library in America here at our studios in Washington DC.

Our involvement with the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences began last year. It was a natural fit since XM celebrates music in so many ways every day throughout the year, but it only seemed fitting that NARAS and XM team up for complete coverage of music’s biggest night. This year is the 49th time that musicians will be honored with Grammy Awards. XM’s coverage will culminate in a three day channel called Grammy Radio, which will be available February 9th, 10th and 11th on XM 200. During these 72 hours, XM will celebrate all Grammy nominees in depth and bring you special programming produced by XM’s music specialists. It’s no secret that XM doesn’t just put “DJs” on our music channels…we have some of the most knowledgeable music lovers in America whose passion for the music is as big and diverse as our listeners’. Each cluster of channels will offer specials where the nominees and past winners are highlighted.

Plus, for the first time in the history of the Grammy Awards, XM will be the only place for listeners to hear the “pre-tel” awards ceremony. Many music fans don’t realize that over 100 Grammy awards are given out each year. Only 9 are actually televised. XM will make sure that you not only have a front row seat to this event on Sunday February 11th, but you hear from this elite group of winners backstage right after their acceptance speeches. Grammy Radio is a channel that any music fan will enjoy, so I invite you to check it out, watch the show on CBS and tune in Monday to various XM music channels for post-Grammy coverage live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

From one music to fan to another…thanks for being part of the XM family. Your feedback on our music channels is always welcome and appreciated…
